This historic villa was once Torre Vicarage and Agatha Christie and her family visited for tea. Agatha Christie drew on these early experiences and consulted with family friend and Vicar of Torre, the Reverend Harry Petty, on ecclesiastical matters when writing the first Miss Marple novel, The Murder at the Vicarage (1930). Heathcliff House is also just 200 metres from Agatha Christie’s birthplace on Barton Road, 6 miles from her home at Greenway, and 300 metres from All Saints Church where she was baptised, Heathcliff House is a great base for exploring other sites on the Agatha Christie Literary Trail. You will also be able to easily discover the 16 National Trust and 8 English Heritage sites located within 20 miles of Heathcliff House, and explore the 30 Geopark sites and 22 miles of beach in Torbay.
