Welcome to Newton House, a wonderful 300-year-old townhouse situated in the centre of the charming historic market town of Knaresborough. Behind the Georgian façade on the main road, and looking like a typical 18th-century townhouse, is a hidden gem, Drive through the archway to our courtyard car park (we are so lucky to be able to offer some free parking in the middle of town) to enter a world of mystery and romance from secret passages, to intriguing stories of a by-gone era. On your way in to Newton House through our conservatory, you may like to pause to look at Denise’s ’fernery’ – a collection of exotic evergreen ferns, plus insectivorous plants and scented geraniums, as well as an interesting ‘Nature Tray’. (For access, please ring the doorbell and allow a few minutes for us to get to the door.) Once inside you’ll be welcomed by Denise or one of the Newton House Ladies, and shown to your room. Breakfast After a restful night in our super comfy beds, it’s time to enjoy our award-winning breakfast created from local, free-range and home-made produce. Choose from our varied menu with vegetarian, dairy and gluten free options.
Bedrooms We have 12 roomy rooms providing everything you could need for a comfortable night’s stay. Each has it’s own bathroom with complimentary Arran Aromatics toiletries. In addition to the traditional hospitality tray and flatscreen TV with Freeview, you’ll find a DAB radio, FREE Wireless Internet access. Plus a selection of books and magazines to borrow. MORE… Other comforts We have a spacious guest sitting room with books, daily newspapers, magazines – and the ‘smallest bar in Knaresborough’ which operates as an ‘honesty’ bar. And, as well as wines, beers (from our local brewery ‘Roosters’ in Knaresborough and Black Sheep from Masham) and soft drinks, it is well-stocked with a selection of aperitifs and nightcaps.
